Shepherds Bush

Shepherd's Bush is an outstanding area of remnant bushland in Glen Waverley. Shepherds Bush trails go over boardwalks and through swampy riparian vegetation, dominated by Silver Wattle and Swamp Paperbark. Along the Dandenong Creek, the grand Manna Gums with smooth white trunks tower high overhead. Shepherds Bush is a natural haven for over 90 species of birds, including a number listed as rare. Visit at daybreak and listen for the wonderful dawn chorus. Stroll through the bush in the evening to watch flocks of Sacred Ibis fly in and squabble over roosting places.

The Friends group, over many years, has propagated and planted thousands of indigenous plants in several regeneration areas in Shepherd's Bush. We have an ongoing program for weed removal and new planting of indigenous species. Weed removal and further planting days will be a focus for 2014.
