Projects

Friends plan projects and carry out construction works.  In recent years we have been involved in projects with Landcare and Melbourne Water.  We have always been closely involved with Parks Victoria.

Path construction

Construction of hundreds of metres of floodproof pathways in shepherd’s bush continued in 2014.  It is hoped to finish construction of the pathways in 2015.

Tree Planting

The Friends group participated in the 2 million trees project, planting out over 3,000 trees and shrubs.

National Tree Day .

Over 250 established trees were planted in Jells Park.  About 1,000 trees were planted in Norton's Park.

Joint project with Melbourne Water – regeneration of land along the banks of Dandenong Creek.

Friends have completed the first two stages and have one grant to extend the work.  We hope to successfully apply for further grants to continue this work of weed eradication and to plant a range of indigenous plants, grown from local seed, along the east bank of Dandenong Creek.

NAIDOC week – the Friends hosted a tour of our Indigenous Garden and nursery facilities.
